The Hanriot HD-3 was a French two-seat fighter, designed around the water-cooled, 260-horse Salmson 9z radial engine. Heavily armed with twin forward firing Vickers guns in front of the pilot, and with twin Lewis guns protecting the tail, the HD-3 would have been a formidable multi-role aircraft, but the Armistice was signed before it entered large-scale service. Around 75 were delivered, the balance of the contract being cancelled. One escadrille (#174) flew the type briefly on operations during the last part of the war during 1918, and the type continued in service for some years afterward.
This paper model depicts a combat HD-3 from Escadrille 174, and a machine used as an advanced trainer in 1924. Both 1/72 and 1/48 scales are included in the download.
Paper Model Details (1/48 version): 77 parts on three pages, with five construction diagrams. Boxed wheels, fuselage formers, one-piece wing spars, full cockpits, twin Vickers and Lewis machine guns, duo-fold struts and u/c legs.
